Sitting Grand Prix 4 review - Heroes go joint top

The Sitting Grand Prix stormed back into action after the Christmas break this weekend (10th January) at Loughborough University, with Help 4 Heroes A looking to repeat their success from round three of the Grand Prix.

Help 4 Heroes A picked up where they left off at the end of last year, confidently defeating Lincoln Imps 2-0 to progress into the winners’ bracket.

Sitting Bucks matched that early momentum with a straight-sets success over Panthers, while South Hants also impressed in the opening round with a 2-0 victory over Help 4 Heroes B.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Casualties edged past Salisbury Spitfires in a tightly-contested three-set encounter, setting the tone for a closely-fought tournament overall.

Help 4 Heroes B responded well after their opening loss, claiming a battling 2-0 win (25–22, 26–24) against Lincoln Imps. Salisbury Spitfires also showed resilience, recording a three-set victory over Panthers to keep their day alive.

At the top end of the draw, Help 4 Heroes A continued their unbeaten run, overcoming South Hants 2-0 to book their place in the final. Sitting Bucks followed them through with another composed performance, defeating Nottingham Casualties in straight sets to set up a much-anticipated showdown for first place.

The final lived up to expectations. Sitting Bucks pushed Help 4 Heroes A all the way, taking the second set and keeping their hopes of returning to the top alive. However, Help 4 Heroes A once again demonstrated their ability to perform under pressure, taking the deciding set to win 2-1 and secure their second successive Gand Prix triumph.

The result leaves the two teams level on points in the overall standings, with two event wins and two second places each.

In the remaining placing matches, South Hants claimed third with a three-set win over Nottingham Casualties, while Salisbury Spitfires finished fifth after a straight-sets victory against Help 4 Heroes B. Lincoln Imps rounded out the day by defeating Panthers 2-0 to secure seventh place.

With just two Grand Prix events remaining, the overall standings remain finely balanced at the top, with South Hants and Salisbury Spitfires still firmly in the chase.
