Overseas and FIVB Qualifications
Volleyball England welcomes overseas coaches. To be able to register with the Federation, your overseas qualification will be assessed and you will be awarded an equivalent Volleyball England Coaching grade.
You will also need to have an up to date safeguarding qualification and first aid qualification (Club Coach only). If you work with children and young people you will also require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Overseas Qualifications
Applicants need to be aware of these conditions before applying:
- National Federation qualifications must have been awarded after 1st January 2012.
- There is no time limit for degree courses which incorporate volleyball content.
- A non-refundable assessment fee of £35 (plus 3.2% + 50p service fee) applies.
Application process
Please send the following information to the Volleyball England Workforce Team via email:
- An electronic copy of your volleyball coaching qualification, which should include the following information:
- The name of the awarding body/national federation
- The level of the course
- The date the course was passed
- A copy of the course syllabus (breakdown of hours, modules and content covered) with an accompanying English translation. This is will be used in the Evaluation Process.
- Your volleyball CV.
- A volleyball statement that explains where and you will be coaching in England and why you want to coach.
- To achieve a Volleyball England coach award you will also need:
- A safeguarding qualification.
- A first aid qualification (Club Coach only).
- Your DBS check if working with children.
- Confirmation that you have paid the assessment fee.
Evaluation Process
Your qualification with be evaluated against Volleyball England's syllabus. If successful, you will be informed of your equivalent ENG qualification level and any additional training needed. Once all the required training is completed, you will be eligible to register as a coach with Volleyball England.
Please do not try to purchase a coach registration until you have had your qualification equivalated.
FIVB Qualifications
Applications need to be aware of these conditions before applying:
- FIVB qualifications must have been awarded after 1st January 2012.
- A digital statement of completion from Digital FIVB Coach Courses are not accepted.
- A non-refundable assessment fee of £35 applies (plus 3.2% + 50p service fee).

Please send the following information to the Volleyball England Workforce Team via email:
- A copy of your FIVB certificate.
- Your volleyball CV.
- A volleyball statement that explains where and you will be coaching in England and why you want to coach.
- Your safeguarding qualification.
- Your first aid qualification (Club Coach only).
- Your DBS check, if you are working with children.
- Confirmation that you have paid the assessment fee.
Evaluation Process
Your qualification will be checked. Once all the required training is completed, you will be eligible to register as a coach with Volleyball England.
How to pay the assessment fee
Visit the VolleyZone Events Portal and select 'Assessment Fee' from the event group drop down.
Locate the Overseas and FIVB Coach Assessment Fee and click register.
If you have an exisiting VolleyZone account, log in to complete your purchase. Alternatively, you can sign up for an account and then subsequently purchase the fee.
