U16 Junior Grand Prix #2 (13th and 14th December)

The second U16 Junior Grand Prix for the 2025-26 season took place on this weekend, with 60 teams competing in 14 pools across the boys' and girls' sections.

The U16 Girls featured 36 teams from across the country. 

Gold Pool A was hosted by Ashfield Vipers, who faced some tough competition in the top pool. 

Urmston Grammar A placed top of the table after beating the three other teams, claiming 20 Grand Prix Series points. 

Newcastle Staffs followed closely behind after a close 2-1 defeat to Urmston Grammar A, however beat Bristol 2-0 and Ashfield Vipers 2-1, 15-13 in the third set. 

Bristol placed third after securing a win in a tight match against Ashfield Vipers 25-14, 22-25, 15-11. 

Gold Pool B saw Wapping Wildcats come first after winning all three of their matches. 

Hosts, Sevenoaks School, came second after losing 2-0 to the winners, however beat The Boswells School 2-1 as wel as Richmond B 2-0 to claim 18 Grand Prix Series points. 

The Boswells School defeated Richmond B 2-0, 25-13, 25-12 to finish in third place.

Gold Pool C was hosted by Ashcombe, who had some competitive matches against the other teams.

South Bucks A placed first after defeating all three teams, allbeit in a close 2-1 match against Thames Valley, where the third set went to 15-12. 

Richmond A placed second after a 2-0 defeat to South Bucks A, however beat Thames Valley and Ashcombe Dorking 2-0. 

Ashcombe Dorking dug deep to beat Thames Valley 2-1 in a never-ending match 31-33, 25-15, 15-11.

Whilst Thames Valley placed fourth, they had two close 2-1 matches, losing 11-15, 12-15 in the third sets against Ashcombe Dorking and South Bucks A. 

Silver Pool D was hosted by Newcastle Staffs who also faced tough matches against the opposing teams. 

MK City A came out victorious on Sunday after winning all their matches, securing a first place finish. 

Manchester Marvels lost 2-1 to the winning team, however defeating Hull Thunder and Newcastle staffs B 2-0, ending the day with 14 Grand Prix Series points. 

Hull Thunder put in a good effort after losing to Manchester Marvels and MK City A to defeat Newcastle Staffs B 2-1 in a thrilling match 25-19, 22-25, 15-12. 

Malory Eagles won Silver Pool E afer winning all their matches and only dropping a single set. 

Hosts, South Hants, followed behind closely after losing to the winners 25-12, 25-17, but beat Westminster and Team SideOut, resutling in 14 Grand Prix Series points earnt. 

Westminster gave Malory Eagles a run for their money after falling short in the final set 9-15, however beat Team SideOut 25-20, 25-20 to place third in the Silver Pool E. 

Lastly, Team SideOut placed fourth after facing some difficult competition in this pool, losing 25-20 in all six sets the played. 

Bronze Pool F produced some more varied results for second, third and fourth place, however it was Leeds Gorse Orange who placed first after winning all their matches whilst only dropping a single set. 

ENVC narrowly lost 2-1 to AST Academy A 17-15 in the final set, but managed to secure a win against, hosts, Black Country 2-0.

Black Country also won one match against a tight battle between AST Academy A 25-17, 26-24.

U16 4

AST Academy A faced a similar situation, having also only won one match, defeating ENVC 2-1. 

With three teams having all won a single match, the end positions were based on Sets For and Points For, where AST Academy A placed fourth after two Sets For. 

Both ENVC and Black Country had three Sets For, and therefore came down to Points For, with Black Country having 135, thus placing second, and ENVC having 154 Points For, resulting in second place. 

Weymouth coped well with a home court advantage in Bronze Pool G, making their 2-0 victories in all three of their matches look like a breeze. 

Wessex placed second after falling short to the winning team 2-0, however, defeated Winchester Eagles and Deep Dish Crystal Palace 2-0, claiming 10 Grand Prix Series points. 

Winchester Eagles beat Deep Dish Crystal Palace 25-20, 25-20 to end in third place, resulting in Deep Dish Crystal Palace placing fourth. 

National 2 Pool H was hosted by Worthing, who placed second after losing 2-1 to Willesden Diverts 18-25, 25-23, 13-15. 

Willesden Divets won Pool H after only dropping one set, resulting in eight Grand Prix Series points won. 

London Giants lost to the top two teams, however defeated fourth place Future Stars 2-0 to end in third place. 

Lastly, National 2 Pool I was all the play for for a podium finish, with hosts, Urmston Grammar B, falling short of first place based on Sets Against, beating Stockport and Frodsham, but narrowly losing to Nottingham Rockets 12-15 in the third set. 

Frodsham placed first in a very close victory based on a one set against betweeen Urmston Grammar B after losing 2-1 to them, but beating both Stockport and Nottingham Rockets 2-0. 

Nottingham Rockets also had a close run after winning two of their matches, including Urmston Grammar B and Stockport, however based on Sets For, came third. 

Stockport had some close sets, however couldn't secure a win on Sunday, claiming fourth place. 


The U16 Boys had 26 teams across seven pools. 

Gold Pool A was hosted by Urmston Grammar A who played well with a home court advantage, winning all three of their matches without dropping a single set, claiming 20 Grand Prix Series points. 

Leeds Gorse Orange followed in second place, as whilst losing 2-0 to the winning team, they beat Monkseaton and Bristol 2-1.

Monkseaton ended in third, losing to Urmston Grammar A 2-0, and Leeds Gorse Orange 2-1, going to 13-15 in the final set. 

Suffering two defeats, they managed to turn it around and defeat Bristol in another close match, winning 2-1, 15-13 in set three. 

Bristol placed fourth after facing some tough 2-1 losses against Monkseaton and Leeds Gorse Orange, however still won 14 Grand Prix Series points. 

Sevenoaks School hosted Gold Pool B, but faced some difficult competition on Saturday, placing fourth.

Richmond Falcons were on fire this weekend, not dropping a set, therefore placing first. 

Having lost to Richmond Falcons, Wessex turned it around to win their following two matches 2-0, ultimately finishing in second place. 

Dartford had some close matches against the top two teams, and dug deep to beat Sevenoaks School 2-1, 14-24, 25-21, 15-9, therefore placing third.

Whilst Sevenoaks School placed fourth, they had some cloes sets, including narrowly losing to Wessex 26-24 in the second set, and losing 2-1 to Dartford. 

Gold Pool C saw hosts, The Boswells School, come top of the table after winning all their matches 2-0, ending with 20 Grand Prix Series points. 

Team Sideout followed behind in second place after beating both London Lynx and Deep Dish Crystal Palace 2-0. 

London Lynx lost to the top two teams, but beat Deep Dish Crystal Palace 2-0, 25-20, 25-20 to secure their third place finish, resulting in Deep Dish finishing in fourth. 

Like othes, Newcastle Staffs operated well with a home court advantage in Silver Pool D, finishing first after 2-0 wins against the three other teams. 

South Bucks A played strategically beating MK City A 2-0, and Urmston Grammar B 2-1 in a close 15-13 third set. 

Urmston Grammar B finished in third place after winning their match against MK City A 25-20, 25-20, leaving MK City A in fourth place after facing the tough oppositions. 

Team Medway hosted Silver Pool E which only featured three teams, however Team Medway faced some difficult oppositions, resulting in a third place finish. 

Richmond Hawks finished second after beating Team Medway 2-0, but losing to the winners, London Giants 2-1 going to 15-9 in the final set. 

Bronze Pool F also had three teams, with AST Academy hosting. 

AST Academy A had the home court advantage, cruising through their matches, winning 2-0. 

MK City B lost 10-25, 12-15 to the winners, but beat Thames Valley 25-11, 25-23, resulting a second and third place finish for these two teams. 

Lastly, Bronze Pool G saw Willesden Knights storm through the pool, winning all three of their matches without dropping a set.

Hosts, Wapping Wildcats, placed second after losing 2-0 to the winners, but beating Worthing Lions and Winchester Eagles 2-0. 

Worthing Lions pushed through to finish third after suffering two losses, but beating Winchester Eagles 25-20, 25-20, leaving Winchester Eagles finishing in fourth place after some tough competition.
