That Volleyball Guy to partner with Volleyball England for series of new podcasts
Wiltshire, who is a regular commentator on Volleyball England’s live broadcasts, has already established his own podcast, That Volleyball Guy, where he has welcomed a variety of guests which have included The Bello brothers, Carol Gordon and Denise Austin.
Now, with support from the national governing body, the Southampton Volleyball Club coach will produce three podcasts with different themes that will cover a variety of topics, helping to throw a unique light on the sport.
Super League Time Out will be a 30-minute show that airs weekly and reviews what has happened in the previous weekend’s MAAREE Women’s and DYNAMIK Men’s Super Leagues, as well as looking forward to what is coming up the following weekend.
It will be broadcast during the months of the indoor season and last for around 30 minutes, typically going live on Tuesdays, starting from Tuesday 11th February.
The Heritage Show will be of around an hour’s duration and feature inspirational figures from the sport who have made a valuable contribution to it over a significant period of time.
This will be broadcast once a month, all year round, and typically go live on Thursdays, starting from Thursday 20th February.
Digging Deeper will be an hour-long, all year round podcast that will invite along guests from Super League to talk about their careers and their teams, but will also look more widely at the NVL, sitting volleyball, junior volleyball and, during the summer season, beach volleyball.
This will be released every month, with a two-week gap between this and The Heritage Show. Again, it will typically go live on Thursdays, starting from Thursday 6th March.
To whet listeners’ appetites for what is to come, Wiltshire has recorded an introductory podcast in conversation with Volleyball England’s Chief Executive Officer, Charlie Ford, to explain in more detail the formats of the three shows, what they will cover and why.
You can listen to it by clicking here.
“We’re delighted to partner with Luke to add this extra dimension to our existing regular coverage of the sport via live broadcasts and across our social media, website and newsletters,” said Ford.
“Not only will the podcasts elevate the Super League and bring to life some of the characters, coaches and officials within it, it will also bring a greater depth of coverage across all areas of the sport in England.
“Alongside this, having a podcast specifically around the heritage of the sport will help us link the sport’s past to its present and future, which I believe is critical to its ongoing success.”
Wiltshire added: “I’m extremely excited about this partnership and to have the opportunity to work with Volleyball England.
As a volleyball enthusiast, I set this podcast up as I believe we need to share more in our sport and this partnership will elevate the content and spread the stories to more of our community, enriching the sense of belonging we already have.”
The podcasts will be available to download from Apple, Spotify and Amazon and they will also be made available on the Volleyball England YouTube Channel.
