Have your player voice heard at November seminars

Have your player voice heard at November seminars

At the heart of every sport are the players, yet they are often the voices that are least heard when the big decisions are made.

On Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th November from 7pm to 9pm there will be two online seminars that are open invitation to all active players from disciplines and all levels.

Volleyball England has selected two evenings in acknowledgement that most players are training, and, with two evenings back to back, there is a chance to join at least one of them.

Seminar topics

Players voice matters – listen to the motivational story of how an Olympian decided to stand up for the players and went on to influence their sport at the highest level. With Madelein Meppelink Olympian (2012 & 2016) and European Champion (2014) from beach volleyball, and Chair of the FIVB Athletes' Commission.

Ask away* – join a no-question-is-off-limits* session about the future of competition in England. (*questions will need to be submitted at registration to give the panel time to share the best possible answers). With Charlie Ford (CEO), Simon Griffiths (Board member) and Simon Cowie (Competitions Lead).

Building the brand – Join the Digital and Comms Team to hear how Volleyball England is building the brand of the Super League and to share your thoughts. You might be able to steal ideas for building your own team’s brand. With Matt Halfpenny Strategic Manager (Digital and Communications).

Soap box* – take part in a player-led session where you can have the mic for two minutes to a talk about the things that matter most to you. (* to guarantee a slot, share your name and theme when you register. Any unused time in the session will be opened to the floor). If enough requests are received, the session will be divided into indoor, beach and sitting.

Life gets in the way of volleyball – get some great top tips from one of UKSI Performance Lifestyle Advisors on how to balance your playing ambitions with your career/studies. With Clare Stacey, Performance Lifestyle Advisor from the UK Sport Institute.

Managing your coach – there is no such thing as a perfect coach, but the very best players know how to up-manage their coaches so they can be the best they can be. Listen to an Olympic medallist on ways you can get the best out of your coaching team. With Miriam Luke, Olympic Medallist and business advisor.

Player Community design session – Have your input into a design session on what the Player Community should look like. If you like what you hear, consider stepping up to become part of the Player Community Leadership Team. Help design next year's Play Community engagement event and join the Player Advisory Group that will be a standing group that inputs into the Volleyball England board, sub groups and working groups.  With Volleyball England Deputy Chief Exectuve Officer Guin Batten.

Your sport needs your voice… step up and make a difference!
