Why am I being charged a service provider fee while purchasing membership/club affiliation on VolleyZone?

The service provider fee of 3.2% plus 50p on each transaction on the system is a Stripe charge by our system provider, SportLoMo.

Sport Lomo charges a fee for the provision of their software; it is a SaaS (Software as a Service) fee.

Sport Lomo collects it in proportion to the amount of interaction clients have with the system to spread the cost of the service in proportion to the service provided. This is clearly displayed as the service fee to the customer/member before payment is made.

Why have the membership fees increased so much?

The changes to our membership fees are in line with article 16.3 of Volleyball England’s Articles of Associations. It is below the UK rate of inflation when the new fees were agreed (11.4% in April 2023) and reflects the need to meet rising costs incurred in maintaining the standards of services offered. All the fees that Volleyball England receives go back into volleyball in England.

Why has my club got a region/county name in front of it? We don’t have anything to do with them.

The current VolleyZone system is formatted in a hierarchy which means all clubs sit under a county and then under the Region, which then sits under Volleyball England. Other than the hierarchy, you are still a separate entity. Not all counties have a volleyball association, so some geographical counties have been added into the hierarchy to make the system work same for all. As you are associated with a club, please always use the club name when you log into your account. Volleyball England will only be used if we cannot cascade something down to the clubs, this will be included in our communication.

Why do we need to share our constitution and safeguarding policy for our club affiliation?

A constitution sets out the purpose and rules of your club. It is the basic document which helps to ensure smooth and proper running of your club.  Further, having a club constitution and policies is one of the main requirements to be eligible to apply for the funding. Through the mandatory upload of these documents, Volleyball England aims to encourage all the clubs to have a constitution and adopt our safeguarding policy to ensure the long term governance and operational success of the club.
