6v6 Volleyball Technical Module

This professional development program targets coaches who have already obtained the Volleyball England Coach Award (or an L2 equivalent). Its purpose is to deepen understanding and expertise in coaching 6 v 6 volleyball.

Course Description

If you qualified as a coach several years ago, this program provides an excellent chance to refresh and update your coaching practice. 

The programme includes a comprehensive ‘how-to toolkit’ specifically crafted to tackle challenges and enhance player development and performance. During the course, we emphasise a game-based coaching approach, recognising its importance for player growth. Additionally, we delve deeper into the Volleyball England Fundamentals Framework—a mental model that aids in teaching, analysing, and evaluating players. 

Delivered face to face over a weekend in May or September each year coaches can expect to cover the following: 

  • Individual technical fundamentals  
  • Team tactical fundamentals 
  • Systems of play
  • Preparing to coach a match
  • Volleyball England Fundamentals Framework
  • Volleyball England Game- based Approach
  • How to coach skills- such as observation, analysis, feedback, use of questioning
  • Carrying out coaching tasks
  • Practice Management 

Pre-requisites 

  • Volleyball England Coach Award or equivalent
  • Registered Coach with Volleyball England
  • Valid Safeguarding and Protecting Children award
Assessment 

There is no formal assessment, but learners are expected to complete the volleyball Observation and Analysis Task prior and attend the module in full to receive certification.

When bookings become available on the Volleyball England website and social media channels, please send an email to coaching@volleyballengland.org to express your interest in attending the Volleyball Technical Module. A member of the Workforce team will then invite you to secure your spot via VolleyZone, as long as you meet the pre-requisites.
