Join the England National Team Coaching Pathway

Volleyball England is recruiting Assistant Coaches across its U18, U20, U22 and Senior men’s and women’s England National Team programmes.

This recruitment forms part of an expansion of the National Team coaching workforce, increasing the depth of coaching support by creating opportunities for experienced, ambitious coaches to develop within the England pathway.

Successful applicants will work alongside some of the country’s leading coaches, supporting training, competition preparation, athlete development and selections to contribute towards a positive, athlete-centred, coach led National Team environment.

Developing coaches as well as athletes

Volleyball England is seeking experienced coaches who can contribute effectively within a National Team coaching team whilst continuing to develop their own practice.

Assistant Coaches will have opportunities to work alongside experienced National Team coaches, engage in CPD and gain experience in international performance environments.

Ambitious coaches looking to progress within the performance pathway are particularly welcomed, including former high-level players who have developed strong coaching experience.

Applications from female coaches are also strongly encouraged, with the organisation committed to increasing female representation within the National Team coaching pathway.

These are not entry level coaching positions. Applicants should have significant experience of coaching athletes within high-level competitive environments.

This recruitment is the first stage of a wider approach to strengthening the England National team coaching pathway. Following the appointment of the Assistant Coaches, it is intended to create further opportunities by creating a pool of coaches to support National Team activity across different squads

For some coaches, this could provide a first step into the England National Team coaching pathway, building experience within the environment and creating a route towards future Assistant Coach opportunities.

What does the role involve?

England squads will typically come together for three larger training camps each year, alongside smaller preparation camps ahead of competitions. Assistant Coaches will support their squad at relevant domestic and international competitions.

Working with the Head Coach, responsibilities will include:

  • supporting the planning and delivery or training,

  • competition preparation and tactical planning,

  • athlete development and feedback

  • talent identification and selection.

Applicants can express an interest in up to two of the following programmes:

  • U18 Men

  • U18 Women

  • U20 Men

  • U20 Women

All positions are voluntary. Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with Volleyball England's expenses policy. Applications from outside the UK will not have travel expenses to the UK covered.
