Hudl provides upgrade to Super League systems ahead of new season

Volleyball England is entering an exciting new era with its performance analysis partner, Hudl, which is providing a new and upgraded package to the Super League teams for the 26-27 season and beyond.

Hudl are the driving force behind statistics and post-match analysis in the Super League and England national teams, and a new package will be trialled in the top flight for the new campaign.

Teams use Hudl Assist to analyse matches and track statistics across the season to give a better indication of where to improve strengths and devising new tactics based around the strengths of their players.

Clubs are also able to take clips directly from Hudl to upload on social media, which helps to raise the profile of the sport in England.

The new package, called “Volleymetrics” comes with a range of benefits to the Super League, with one of the biggest being match analysis turnaround being cut from 24 hours to just a few hours, thanks to Hudl’s Balltime AI.

Volleymetrics allows teams to view opposition video and data, making opposition scouting far easier and transparent, as well as allowing coaches to prepare game plans tailored to specific opponents which should result in closer and more exciting matches.

Sam Shenton, Account Executive at Hudl, made clear the value the new package brings to the League.

He said: ”Volleymetrics gives the Super League a much more professional and transparent set-up, with better access to video, data and opposition analysis through the League Exchange.

”Alongside that, Hudl Volleyball AI, powered by Balltime AI, gives coaches quicker access to automatically broken down match video and also makes it much easier to capture and analyse practice, supporting both game preparation and day to day player development.”

As Volleyball England enters its final year of a four-year agreement with Hudl, CEO Charlie Ford reflected on the value of what Volleymetrics wiil bring to the organisation.

“We live in a world where technology is evolving faster than many organisations can keep pace with, which makes it incredibly important to work with partners who are constantly innovating," he said.

“Our enhanced partnership with Hudl for the remaining year of our current agreement gives us the opportunity to embrace that change and take advantage of an expanding range of products and technology.

“This next year will provide a great opportunity to test, learn and better understand how Hudl’s enhanced products can add value across our sport, while putting better tools into the hands of our teams, clubs and volunteers.

Ultimately, we want to use technology to maximise performance, showcase our sport and its athletes, and increase the exposure and visibility of volleyball at every level."
