Volleyball to celebrate the 12 Days of Kitmas on Sunday

Volleyball England is joining a selection of other sporting organisations and National Governing Bodies for kitround’s “12 Sports of Kitmas.”

It is a seasonal celebration of communities, kit and the partners who help to keep sport moving, which began on Monday (8th December) and will run until Friday 19th December.

Each organisation will have its own spotlight day, and, for 24 hours, kitround will become home to that community.

Volleyball will feature this coming Sunday (14th December), when the partnership built up with kitround over the last 15 months will be in the limelight.

How it works is simple: pre-gamed kit no longer wanted is donated by players and clubs in kit bins at major Volleyball England events.

That kit is then listed on the Volleyball England kitshop hosted on the kitround website and a percentage of the proceeds from sales are donated to the Ann Jarvis Hardship Fund, which helps talented young players with the cost of training and competing.

Already the partnership has raised more than £1,400 for the fund, while also recycling 56kg of kit, avoiding 9,300 cummulative years of landfill.

It has saved 617.4kg of CO2 emissions – the equivalent generated by driving from London to Bucharest – as well as 7,794 litres of water - the equivalent to over three months of daily showers for a person.

Other organisations whose work in trying to recycle kit sustainability will be celebrated are the Youth Sports Trust, England Netball, British Ice Skating, The Golf Foundation, Foxhills, The London Irish Foundation, British Dodgeball, David Lloyd and Sporting Giants.
