Super League review (22nd and 23rd November) - Eagles hit double top!

Malory Eagles took advantage of a week of inactivity from other teams in the Super League to go top of both the DYNAMIK Men’s and MAAREE Women’s sections.

With their double header at Leeds Gorse the only fixtures scheduled, they were able to get the wins and points needed to sit proudly at both summits.

The men’s match was the tighter of the two but saw Malory have the edge each time to stay in control and win in straight sets, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19.

American captain Logan Clark was named MVP for the Eagles, while Powell Osayawah took the honours for the hosts.

Malory’s fifth win from five leaves them four points clear of second-placed London Giants having played a game more.

The Eagles go to third-placed Essex on Sunday in a tough-looking fixture while the Ginats will look to capitalise on any slip-ups when they have a double header on the road at Leeds Gorse and Newcastle Knights.

As expected Malory’s women were also confident in victory over a young Leeds Gorse side, despite resting some of their usual starters.

Though Steve McKeown’s home side had their moments, the Eagles were always in full control to run out 25-16, 25-10, 25-14 victors.

It leaves them three points ahead of Durham Palatinates in the table, albeit having played a game more than the unbeaten North East club.

An interesting weekend awaits as Paul Welch’s side go Lionhearts Vinarius and Team Polonia SideOut, while Malory, like their men, visit Essex.
