U18 Junior Grand Prix review (4th and 5th October)

Volleyball England's Junior Grand Prix returned for the 2025-26 season at the weekend - and began with a bang!

Sunday's Girls U18 fixtures saw South Bucks A claim top spot in Gold Pool A after winning all three of their matches and, wtih it, securing a place in the next round of the Super Series.

They were followed by Newcastle Staffs A who placed second after a falling short to South Bucks A in a nail-biting match that saw the latter 25-20, 26-24. 

Gold Pool B was won by Willesden Divets who went unbeaten across the day, gaining 36 Grand Prix Series points in the priocess.

They were given hard competition in the race for a Super Series place by London Lynx, Richmond B and Worthing Lions. 

Richmond C topped the table in Silver Pool C, with South Hants A closely following behind after the Londoners won the crunch match between the two 2-1, while hosts, Ashcome Dorking, placed third.

In Silver Pool D, hosts Newcastle Staffs B topped the table, winning all three of their matches. 

Close behind were MK City A who secured the runner-up spot, edging out Leeds Gorse Purple and also defeating Coventry and Warwick Riga, who finished third and fourth respectively. 

In Bronze Pool E, hosts Urmston Grammar B were victorous, with Bristol coming a respectable second. 

Stockport found form against Sheffield, winning 2-1 to secure third place in the table. 

Weymouth Ripples hosted Bronze Pool F, hbut it didn't prove a significant advantage in what was a tough groupimng of teams.

Wapping Wildcats had a successful time of things, claimng a 100% record, as London Giants placed second and Team Medway third. 

In the National 2 Pool G, Wales Academy notched a pivotal 2-0 success over the hosts Bromsgrove School, earning their first place.

Frodsham were runners-up after a 2-0 triumph over Bromsgrove School, while Telford gave their all in some close games. 

In National 2 Pool H, hosts AST Academy topped the table by earning maxium points without dropping a set, with the sides they beat including Team Sideout, who placed second. 

These teams finished ahead of third-placed MK City B and fourth-placed Onyx.

South Bucks B dominated National 2 Pool I, with Leicester Athena A getting the better of hosts Lincoln Cannnons to clinch first place in National 3 Pool J. 

National 3 Pool K featured hosts Harlow Bravos, who were second behind winners Sevenoaks School. 

Malory Eagles B had an impressive run in National 3 Pool L, beating Thames Valley, Richmond E, and South Hants B. 

Lastly, National 3 Pool M saw hosts ENVC dominate, getting the better of Nuneaton, MK City C and Northampton. 

In the Boys U18, Gold Pool A Exeter Storm came top of the table to ensure their promotion to the Super Series with a 2-1 win over Stockport Blue

Rounding out the pool, Black Country took third place, earning a single victory over fourth-placed Nottingham Rockets. 

In Gold Pool B, Deep Dish Crystal Palace were successful in securing first place, with London Lynx Selby following closely behind. 

A hard-fought battle between South Hants and Richmond Hawks determine their rankings, withthe south Coast club winning 2-1 to secure their third place in the pool. 

Silver Pool C saw Ashfield Vipers beat hosts Leeds Gorse Purple in a nail-biting three-set match to lead the way having also beaten Sheffield, who placed third and Frodsham, who finished fourth. 

Hosts Weymouth found the going tough in Silver Pool D,but managed a consolation victory against Wapping Wildcats A to secure third place. 

The pool was dominated by MK City A who won all their matches 2-0 to head up their table. 

In Bronze Pool E, Hermitage and Bristol's match went the distance, with tjhe former coming out on top.

The West Country side, however, did beat Bromsgrove School, who finished third and hosts Coventry and Warwick Riga, who were fourth. 

South Bucks fought out a tight encounter against hosts Dartford in the decider in Bronze Pool F, before edging first place with a dominant deciding set margin of 15-3. 

National 2 Pool G saw Thames Valley claim the most Grand Prix Series points in the pool, closely followed by Wessex who beat Farborough and Winchester Eagles to secure their second place. 

Hosts South Hants B were thwe winners of National 2 Pool H, securing successes over Portsmouth Pheonix, London Lynx B and Urbond. 

In National 2 Pool I, hosts Sevenoaks School finished top of the table after beating off the challenge of second-placed London Giants

They were followed by Team Sideout, who narrowly overcame Orpington Ravens to secure third place. 

AST Academy B placed top of the table in National 2 Pool J, with a clean sweep over Harlow Bravos, Northampton and Onyx. 

Urmston Grammar B were top of the pile in National 3, winning all their matches 2-0, with Stockport Orange and Manchester Academy also in action. 

In National 3 Pool L, hosts Lincoln Cannons were beaten top spot by Tamworth Spartans while Rugby defeated ENVC in the battle for third and fourth.

Lastly, Black Country B came top of the table in National 3 Pool M, defeating hosts Birmingham Five Ways 2-1 to secure their position and were followed by Wales Academy, who placed third after defeating MK City C.
