Semi Finals for National Cup and Shield confirmed

The Semi Finals for the National Cup and Sheild have been confirmed with matches being played 22nd and 23rd March.

Men’s Shield

Semi-Final 1: Sheffield vs Wessex
A familiar rivalry is reignited as Sheffield and Wessex meet for the first time since their 2019 Super League encounter, where Sheffield triumphed 3-0. Both sides currently sit second in their respective Division 2 conferences, setting the stage for a closely contested match-up.

Semi-Final 2: Loughborough Students vs Coventry and Warwick Riga
Loughborough Students will be looking for redemption as they face the last team to defeat them in the NVL this season—Coventry and Warwick Riga. That loss dates all the way back to October 12th, meaning Loughborough has been on an impressive unbeaten streak since.

Women’s Shield

Semi-Final 1: Northampton vs Bristol
A decade-old rivalry is rekindled as Northampton and Bristol face off. The last time these teams met was during the 2012-13 season, with Bristol emerging victorious on both occasions. Will history repeat itself, or can Northampton turn the tide?

Semi-Final 2: Bedminster vs Loughborough Students
Loughborough faces another uphill battle in their quest for the Shield title. Having already defeated two higher-ranked teams, they must overcome another to book their place in the final.

Men’s Cup

Semi-Final 1: Essex Rebels vs London Giants
It’s a top-of-the-table showdown as Super League leaders Essex Rebels take on third-placed London Giants. The Rebels claimed victory in their last encounter in early February, but with a place in the Cup final on the line, both teams will be pushing their limits.

Semi-Final 2: Stockport vs Malory Eagles UEL
Stockport will be aiming to replicate their dominant 3-0 victory over Malory Eagles from the Super League Opening Weekend in 2023. However, since then, Malory has turned the tide, winning the last two meetings between the sides.

Women’s Cup

Semi-Final 1: DARKSTAR Derbyshire vs Malory Eagles UEL
DARKSTAR Derbyshire enters the semi-finals in strong form, having won three of their last four matches. However, they will have to overcome a daunting record—Malory Eagles have won their previous six meetings.

Semi-Final 2: Team SideOut Polonia vs Leeds Gorse
Team SideOut Polonia will be looking to maintain their dominance over Leeds Gorse, having already secured two victories over them this season in the Super League.
