Updates to Volleyball England’s Framework document

Updates to Volleyball England’s Framework document

Volleyball England would like to inform its members about several changes that have been made to its Framework Document.

These have been approved by the Board and been made to provide greater clarity, particularly regarding the recruitment process and eligibility for Elected Directors.

The changes follow special resolutions tabled by a group of members ahead of the 2024 AGM last June, along with a continued commitment to reviewing and refining the document to enhance transparency and understanding.

The updates incorporate aspects of the special resolutions from the 2024 AGM that the Board felt would add value and strengthen governance, as well as outline the role of the Nominations Committee (in line with the Code for Sports Governance).

Board Director Alison Shipway has featured in a video where she explains what the Framework Document is, what changes have been made and why. You can view it by clicking here.

“Our Framework document works alongside our Articles of Association in setting out how we operate as an organisation, how decisions are made and how we uphold good governance,” she said. “Essentially, it’s the foundation that ensures we run effectively and fairly.

“In summary, these updates bring greater clarity to how we recruit Board members, ensuring the process is transparent, structured and aligned with the needs of our organisation. They also reinforce the role of the Nominations Committee, in line with the Code for Sports Governance, ensuring we attract individuals with the right skills and experience to help drive the sport forward. “Our Nominations Committee will be meeting shortly to confirm its approach to Board vacancies ahead of the 2025 AGM. We therefore want to make sure you, our members, have a clear understanding of these changes and what they mean for the future of Volleyball England.

“As always, we welcome your thoughts and engagement, so if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.”
