The beach volleyball courts at Moseley, launched under the Birmingham 2022 Legacy Project, have concluded

Drawing in players from across the city and the broader West Midlands, the facility has quickly become a popular community hub for the sport.

The 2024 season’s impact was significant, with 160 players participating in sessions throughout the summer.

That turnout led to over 500 total attendances across more than 100 events held throughout the season—averaging two to five weekly sessions—as well as two social scramble tournaments.

Reflecting on the season, Virginia Ledda said: “The first full season at the Moseley courts can definitely be described as a success.

Despite early setbacks, we organised at least two sessions each week and reached over 160 players from Birmingham and the West Midlands.”

“The enthusiasm for this sport is clear, and with the ongoing support of Volleyball England and Moseley Rugby Club, we look forward to offering even more activities next season and growing the West Midlands beach volleyball community further.”

Jake Sheaf, Volleyball England Board member, also praised the initiative’s success and added: “The Moseley Beach Volleyball Courts showcase the positive impact of the Birmingham 2022 Legacy Project.

“A big thank you to Dan, Virginia and their wider team who have shown an inspiring amount of commitment to developing the beach community at the courts.”

“Moseley Rugby Club have shown an amazing amount of support for the project from day one and Volleyball England look forward to continue supporting all those involved

I am excited to continue to see such vibrant engagement from the West Midlands community and beyond.”
