2023 Silver Nations League: International Sitting Volleyball returns to UK on 19-21 May

International Sitting Volleyball will return to British soil for the first time since London 2012 this week, as Great Britain host both Men's and Women's 2023 Silver Nations Leagues at the David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham.

The three day event, which runs from Friday 19th May to Sunday 21st May, will see nations from across Europe come together to compete for glory in the second tier of ParaVolley Europe's Nations League competition.

After finishing as runners up in the Bronze Nations League in 2022, Great Britain's Men will be up against last year's Silver League winners Poland and the bronze medalists from that competition, Latvia. Hungary, who won gold in 2021 but missed the tournament in 2022, Slovenia, and Italy make up the remainder of the 6-team line up.

Three teams will feature in the women's tournament, with 2021 Silver League winners Hungary, and France, providing the opposition for the hosts.

Preparation for the Paralympic Games will be top of the agenda for both Great Britain teams, with the first qualification events taking place later this year ahead of Paris 2024. The winners of both the Men's and Women's Silver League will also win promotion to the highest tier of the competition, the Golden Nations League, for 2024.

Both tournaments will be played as a round robin pool before the medal matches take place on Sunday to decide the podium.

And on home soil for the first time in over 10 years, Great Britain will be hoping to make home advantage count. Entry to the event is free, with spectators encouraged to come and experience an international Volleyball event. With fast-paced on-court action, a high standard of opposition and free taster sessions for the public, the event will no doubt be an occasion to remember.
