VolleyChat: Your beach volleyball podcast for the 2022 Commonwealth Games

With less than one week to go until Birmingham 2022 begins, we are delighted to launch a mini podcast series to cover all things beach volleyball at these home Commonwealth Games.

VolleyChat will be your essential companion to the Games with comprehensive guides on the Team England athletes, their pool stage rivals, and more. We'll also be bringing you the latest news and interviewing well-known characters from across the Volleyball Family.

Episode 1 " Everything you need to know about Team England's beach volleyball athletes 

Experienced England international Mark Garcia-Kidd joins us for the first episode to explore the journeys of Daisy Mumby, Jess Grimson, Javier Bello and Joaquin Bello. A good friend of each from playing alongside them domestically and abroad, Mark shares intriguing anecdotes as he details their stories from being absolute beginners to history makers.

We are also delighted to have been joined by Matt Rogers, formerly of the European volleyball federation the CEV, who is a key member of Birmingham 2022's beach volleyball competition team. Matt spoke about overcoming huge challenges, creating a party atmosphere, legacy, and what he's most looking forward to on the eve of the biggest beach volleyball competition since the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The opening ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games takes place on 28th July. Nine days of electrifying beach volleyball matches begin on 30th July when England's Javier and Joaquin Bello face Tuvalu in the opening match at 2.30pm.
