Perry and Plaza ready for U22 Euros bid

Stuart Perry and Theo Plaza say pulling on their country's colours when they represent England at CEV U22 European Championships 2026 tomorrow will give them "extra motivation".

The pair have headed to Spain after playing together for much of the summer, including at Bridlington's NEVZA Youth Championships in July.

Now they are hoping to take on some of the cream of Europe for their age group, proving they can come through their qualifying pool first.

They can draw inspiration from the performance of fellow English pair Lewis Bunton and Bailey Harsum who, within the last week, qualified for the main draw of the CEV U20 European Championships 2026 before reaching the knockout stages.

“We are very excited to be playing in Madrid again after playing a whole season together and are most looking forward to playing against tough opponents at this level,” said Theo.

“We have been building up to this throughout the season and recently have had loads of help from the British Volleyball Federation and Fireball with our training.

“We have also played on the Swiss Tour to gain experience with unfamiliar players.

“These preps have gone well, and we feel ready to take on this challenge. We are here to compete with other nations and get experience from that.

“We’re really proud to be representing England. It’s a huge honour to represent our country and compete on the international stage, and it definitely gives us extra motivation to give everything we’ve got.”
