Celebrating volleyball's unsung heroes during Volunteers’ Week
In Volleyball, the sport simply could not function without those who give up their time as coaches, administrators, referees, welfare officers and in many other roles to ensure players continue to enjoy the game, whether sitting, beach or indoor.
As part of celebrating the valued contribution of volunteers, Volleyball England is sending out thank you letters and pin badges to people who have been nominated for five, 10 or 20 years of voluntary service.
These people have been nominated over the last two years, and members can nominate others they know who are deserving of recognition by clicking here.
“We are delighted, in just a small way, to recognise the commitment, dedication and passion of volunteers who help our sport thrive at every level,” said Hema Choudhary, Volleyball England’s Project Lead for Membership and Inclusion.
“Volunteers are the backbone of volleyball in England and their time, energy and willingness to support others have made a meaningful difference, not only to Volleyball England, but also to the players, officials, clubs and communities that are supported.
“We hope recipients wear their badges with pride, knowing how highly their contribution is valued.”
The impact of volunteers is being recognised during Volunteers’ Week by Sport England-supported Buddle (formerly Club Matters) through a celebratory video.
Featuring volunteers from volleyball, it discusses the benefits to the volunteers themselves, including enriching people's lives, boost confidence and skills and help people feel more connected to their organisation and local community.
You can watch the video by clicking here.
On Friday, meanwhile, Volleyball England will be releasing a video across its social media platforms featuring some of the volunteers who were winners at this year’s Annual Awards.
They will explain why it is important for volunteers to be recognised for their efforts, why they volunteer and what they get out of it.
