McGovern reflects on professional season in Germany
Her team clinched a third-place finish in the league table and defeated champions Rote Raben Vilsbiburg 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-22) in their final match.
Alongside a collectively strong season, it was also an excellent one for Georgia individually as she claimed 11 MVP medals to finish second in the league for MVPs won.
“It was such a rewarding experience playing professionally although it did not come without its challenges,” she said, reflecting on her 2025-26 campaign. “With the tragic death of our head coach early on in the season we had to come together as a team and play in his honour.
“The team achieved so much, finishing the highest the club ever has in the league and, on the final day, sweeping the champions was the icing on the cake.
“I am very happy with my development over the season – playing in high intensity professional matches over a long nine months has pushed my limits, my speed and my decision-making to new levels helping me to finish second in MVP league.
“This, combined with living in a foreign country and not speaking the language, has definitely put me out of my comfort zone as I have tried to embrace the change.”
Georgia, who played a pivotal role in helping Malory Eagles to double success last season, has previously battled back from an ACL injury to complete a scholarship in the US, playing for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS).
