Valuable Lessons for England U17s at Global Challenge

Competing against international teams at the Global Challenge in Croatia, the U17 Girls gained valuable experience and grew stronger as a team throughout the week.

Taking place from the 14-18th July the Global Challenge saw teams from around the globe head to Pula, Croatia. 

The U17 Girls started their campaign off with a 2-1 (25-11, 12-25, 25-15) win over OTP Branik from Slovenia. 

They then took on NCVA Red from USA but fell short, losing 3-0 (27-25, 25-19, 25-19).

They fell to the same scoreline against PSA Fire Ants from USA who took the match 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-19).

This set up a Silver Division game against Modena from Italy who were able to claim the game in a thrilling battle 2-1 (25-22, 25-27, 25-20)

Their penultimate game saw them go up against Uplift from USA, which saw England win in confident fashion 2-0 (25-16, 25-21). 

Their final match on Friday morning saw them win against NCVA White 2-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-20)

Coach Alex Chinery said, "The tournament was a fantastic opportunity for this group to get lots of game experience against teams and athletes from all over the world."

This young and relatively inexperienced squad will have taken away valuable lessons from the tournament. One of the standout performances came from Daniella Tchandeu, who showed great promise at outside hitter—a position in which she had limited prior experience

This will serve as fantastic prep for these athletes ahead of NEVZA in October" he went on to say.
