Join Volleyball England for 80s-themed event at Cup Finals Weekend 2025

This year’s showpiece occasion in the English Volleyball calendar on 26th and 27th April will remember when players’ shorts really were short, balls and referees’ outfits were white and the side-out scoring system (for the large part) was still in use.
On the Saturday of Cup Finals between 1.30pm and 3.30pm, It was Acceptable in the Volleyball 80s – a Heritage Project-inspired event – will invite Volleyball England members past and present to reminisce in the upstairs gallery at the National Volleyball Centre in Kettering.
You will be able to check out displays featuring a range of 1980s volleyball items – with people encouraged to bring along any old their own old playing and officiating kit, balls, photos and memorabilia they still have in their possession.
You can also browse through league tables and a timeline of the sport in England through the decade and will be able to listen to short speeches from some of those who played, coached, refereed and volunteered at that point in time.
It will also be a great chance to catch up with old team-mates and opponents and make new friends, as well as view a selection of images that are sure to stoke fond memories – all with a synth-loaded soundtrack in the background!
Those who attend will also have the opportunity to purchase alcoholic and soft drinks from an exclusive bar and watch the Annual Awards 2025, which follows the event, unfold.
Tickets for the It was Acceptable in the Volleyball 80s, which will also include admission to the day’s six Cup Finals, are available for £15 each by clicking here.
