Giants lead London donations in latest boost for Kitround Campaign
This season, all clubs, players and coaches are being invited to bring along pre-gamed kit they no longer need to Volleyball England’s major events, including all events staged at the National Volleyball Centre in Kettering, Super League Live dates, Cup Finals and Final 4.
These will then be sold on and given a second lease of life, helping others to enjoy the sport in an environmentally sustainable way.
Items donated over the course of the 2024-25 season will help generate income for the sport, with a Volleyball England Foundation hardship fund to be set up from the proceeds received.
Sports footwear, tops, t-shirts, shorts, socks, tracksuits, hoodies and knee pads – in fact, any sports kit you have that still has plenty life left in it – are all welcome and can be placed in the bins provided (as pictured above with the Giants players).
At Crystal Palace, home club London Giants made a sizeable donation and were well supported by IBB Polonia and Richmond, in addition to individual donations.
“We are so grateful to the many young and senior players, as well as our coaches, who donated their unused kits,” said the Giants’ Events Organiser Juanes Montoya, who helped coordinate the collection efforts on behalf of his club.
“It’s heartwarming to see how various members of the London volleyball community responded so enthusiastically to this initiative on Sunday at the Super League Live in London.
“Supporting this campaign has been a truly humbling opportunity for all of us to give back to the community that has supported us, as we work together to build a united community.”
The latest donations follow those received from Nottingham Rockets and Newcastle Staffs at Super Series earlier this month.
Donations can be made at this weekend's Super League Live event at the Ruth Gorse Academy in Leeds (1st December) and also the U18 Super Series Grand Prix 3 at Kettering on Sunday 8th December.
