U18 Super Series launches as part of first weekend of new Junior Grand Prix season

The inaugural Volleyball England Super series gets underway this weekend (Sunday 6th October), bringing together the cream of U18 players from across the country.

It is part of the first round of matches in the new 2024-25 Junior Grand Prix season that starts with the most senior level before the U16 and U15 competitions begin in November.

The top eight teams in the country will gather at the National Volleyball Centre in Kettering for five rounds of Super Series matches throughout the season, with the first round on Sunday.

How the Super Series will run

The competition will feature an additional round, expanding from the four rounds in last season's Junior Grand Prix schedule.

Unlike the other Grand Prix matches, which follow a round-robin format, this competition will adopt a knockout format.

Each team will compete in three fixtures per round of the Grand Prix, with the final standings used to determine promotion and relegation.

Fixtures and results can be accessed by clicking here.

Promotion and relegation to the Super Series will see the bottom two clubs from each gender category from the first round (seventh and eighth place) swap with the winners of the two Grand Prix gold pools.

This process will take place after each Grand Prix to determine the teams competing in the Super Series for each round.

Last 8 round

The Last 8 teams will be determined by taking those with the highest national ranking after the previous four Grand Prix rounds.

This round will revert back to a round-robin format, with teams competing in pools of four.

The top team from each pool will face the runner-up from the other pool in the semi-finals and the winners of the semi-finals will then compete for the National Cup title.

HUDL analysis

Matches played during the Super Series will be analysed by the communications team, utilising data from the HUDL system.

This information will help formulate player and team statistics, including Player of the Grand Prix and Team of the Grand Prix awards, as well as provide video clips and highlights that will be used on social media channels.

As part of this, every player participating in the competition will have professional media photos taken during their first Grand Prix for use in stats tables.

Players from teams who are subsequently promoted to the Super Series will have their photographs taken at future rounds.
