Sempeter off to flying start in bid for hat-trick of Golden EuroLeague wins
The reigning champions for the last two years were confident ahead of making the trip over to the United Kingdom and lived up to their billing with a superb all-round performance.
While Panthers gave their all, and had their moments, they were outplayed by the Slovenians, who ran out 25-17, 25-8, 25-11 Pool A winners.
The other match on the opening night at the University of Nottingham’s Jubilee Campus between Italians Dream Volley Pisa and ASUL Lyon was also win in straight sets by the former.
It was a case of the experienced side getting the better of a side playing at this level for the first time, eventually triumphing 25-13, 25-22, 25-11 in the Pool B encounter.
Six more matches will take place tomorrow – four more pool matches and two semi-finals.
