Futures Foundation Camp now open for bookings

Futures Foundation Camp now open for bookings

The latest Volleyball England Futures Foundation Camp will take place on Saturday 9th March 2024 – and is now opening for bookings.

It will be staged at the National Volleyball Centre in Kettering, with the day running from 9am until 6.30pm.

The aim of the camp is to help young players to develop their potential in an environment that closely matches that of the National Squad.

Players eligible to attend must be born in 2010, 2011 or 2012.

As it is a team-based session, this opportunity is open to boys’ and girls’ teams that have a minimum of four maximum of six players. Individual applications will not be accepted.

Format

For the March 2024 Futures event, the format will be:

  • One training session in the morning.
  • One educational session in the morning.
  • One tournament in the afternoon.

The morning training will aim to develop the fast tempo attack in a Volley4s game.

Afternoon tournament

The afternoon tournament will then be played with some specific rules:

  • Three points for a rally won through a fast Tempo attack.
  • Rally won means that the opposition doesn’t touch the ball at all, or only has one touch leading to a mistake.
  • A fast tempo means that before the setter’s contact, players engage a run up and, on the setter’s contact, the attacker doesn’t:
  1. Take any more steps.
  2. Pause before taking off.
  • If a team win three rallies in a row with the same server, they rotate. If they win six in a row, the service goes back to the opposition (but the new serving team doesn’t score a point).
  • The boys’ and girls’ teams will alternate on court. The boys will referee the girls’ games and the girls will referee the boys’ games.

Entering as a team – how to register

For this session, clubs should enrol a team on VolleyZone by following these steps:

  • Log-in to VolleyZone and then under “Members/Teamsheets”, click on “Team roster list”.
  • Next click on the red “Add” tab.
  • Leave “Create Roster for” option as “Team”.
  • Select the age grade “U14 girls” or “U14 open” (for boys), depending on the team’s gender.
  • Under “Team”, click on “Create new team” and add your club’s name.
  • Under “Roster name”, enter your club, the gender and then the word Futures, so, for example, “Dartford Girls Futures”.
  • Click on “Save” and the team appears in the roster list.
  • Here, you can then click on the basket icon in the appropriate column for that team, making sure the association is set to “Volleyball England”.
  • Now you can select “Volleyball Futures Foundation | relevant gender | March 2024” and add to the basket to proceed to payment.

Registration notes

  • Maximum six players per teams – ongoing rotation of five or six players.
  • One registered coach per team that:
  1. Helps run the practices for the morning session.
  2. Coaches only their teams between games.
  3. During games, only reinforces the attacking intentions.

Lunch and cost

A Volleyball Futures Foundation T-shirt and a lunch will be provided by Volleyball England on the day to each player and coach. You will need to detail the number of t-shirts required and sizes on registration, as well as allergies.

Please note: The day is only open to eight boys’ teams and eight girls’ teams, with a maximum of one per gender per club.

The cost is £200 per team. Registration is now open until 14th February 2024 (until 23:59).
