Celebrating One Year of Her Call: Empowering Female Volleyball Referees

Volleyball England is delighted to mark the first anniversary of Her Call on International Women's Day, celebrating a year of growth, empowerment and community for female volleyball referees in England.

Her Call was created with the mission to support every female referee in England to develop, grow and further enhance their knowledge and experience of refereeing.

Over the past year, this community has blossomed into a vibrant network of passionate and dedicated referees who are making their mark on the sport.

A Year of Achievements

In just one year, the community has hosted numerous webinars all aimed at enhancing the skills and confidence of its members.

These sessions have covered a wide range of topics, from rule interpretations and game management to personal development and leadership skills.

One of the most significant achievements of Her Call has been the creation of a supportive and inclusive environment where female referees can connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.

Member Spotlight

To celebrate this milestone, a member of the group was asked to share their thoughts on what Her Call means to them:

“Knowing that there are many other female referees who are always there to help me out, has given me the motivation to go out and referee more and take refereeing opportunities without feeling scared.

“There have been times when I have had a bad refereeing experience but then I remember a lot of other referees go through that and I have learnt to be confident.

"All of this has happened through the help of Her Call which I’m very grateful to be a part of.”
