Brown nominated for Grassroots Sportswoman of the Year award

Elaine Brown, Director of Volleyball at the GORSE Academies Trust and a key member of Leeds Gorse Volleyball Club, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious Sure Grassroots Sportswoman of the Year award.

The award celebrates individuals who bring their communities together through sport, inspiring others to get active and enjoy the benefits of physical activity.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, she said that it is a "privilege to do her job," and, with over 700 students now participating in volleyball, the sport in Leeds has flourished, with Elaine playing a key role in its growth.

Elaine was part of the coaching staff for the 2024 Cup Finals, where Leeds Gorse claimed gold in both the U15 Girls and U16 Boys competitions.

Additionally, she is the head coach of the Women’s Super League team and competes in the NVL alongside her female teammates.
