Team of the Season announced

With the end of the senior indoor season, the final awards of the season have been announced.

The Team of the Season has been selected by our Team of the Month panel who throughout the season have selected a player from seven players based on HUDL statistics collected from each match. 

The statistics are based upon the regular season to allow all teams a chance of making it to the Team of the Season. 

The Women’s team of the season is: 

Setter - Merve Akin - Team SideOut Polonia 

Middle - Maria Sviridova - Team Sideout Polonia

Middle - Taylor Litteken - Durham Palatinates

Outside - Sydney Busa - Team Sideout Polonia

Outside - Camryn Carfino - Durham Palatinates

Opposite - Alice Jagielska - Team Sideout Polonia 

Libero - Mar Vives - University of Nottingham

The Men’s Team of the Season is: 

Setter - Diego Tamburini - IBB Polonia

Middle  - Donovan Todorov - Durham Palatinates

Middle - Ace Backer - Durham Palatinates 

Outside - Mihail Stoev - IBB Polonia

Outside - Thomas Shatimehin - Essex Rebels

Opposite - Grant Maleski - Durham Palatinates

The Player of the Season for the MAAREE Women’s Super League is Maria Sviridova from Team SideOut Polonia. Having featured in every Team of the Month, Maria helped SideOut to a second place finish in the Final 4 and the top spot in the regular season. 

The Player of the Season in the Men’s Super League is Grant Maleski. With a huge performance all season with the second highest number of kills (306) only behind Malory Eagles’ Nathan Fullerton (321). 

His consistency across the season appearing in three Team of the Months has propelled Durham to the Super League title as well as success in the National Cup and BUCS Cup.
