Olympian Štochlová and Helland-Hansen announced as first women's pairing for QKOTC London Showcase

Olympian Štochlová and Helland-Hansen announced as first women's pairing for QKOTC London Showcase

Marie-Sára Štochlová and Sunniva Helland-Hansen are the first women’s pairing to be confirmed for the Queen and King of the Court London Showcase on Friday 21st and Saturday 21st September.

The Czech-Norwegian team will be joined at Canada Square in Canary Wharf (E14 5AH) by Estonian duo Mart Tiisaar and Dmitri Korotkov, who are the first overseas players to be added to the men’s line-up.

Stochlova, 25, will come to the English capital having finished as a runner-up at the CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup Finals in Jurmala, Latvia when playing alongside Barbora Hermannová, a result which was enough to earn the pair a ticket to this summer’s Paris 2024 Olympics after the Dutch winners withdrew.

Four-time Norwegian champion Helland-Hansen, 27, also reached the CEV Beach Volley Nations Cup Finals, alongside Emilie Olimstad, and has played in as number of previous QKOTC events, including those in Doha, Hamburg, Rotterdam and Luxembourg.

Tiisaar, 32, has secured a number of top-10 tournament finishes in the past year, including a fifth-place finish at the Beach Pro Tour Challenge Event in Nuvali, playing alongside regular partner Kusti Nõlvak.

In London, he will team up with fellow countryman Korotkov, 25, who secured a fifth-place finished at May’s Beach Pro Tour Futures event in Battilpaglia, Italy playing in tandem with Urmas Piik.

Tiisaar and Korotkov were also part of the same Estonian squad to play in the Nations Cup in Hamburg in May.

Overall, there will be 20 teams (10 women, 10 men) who will line up for the event, with a mixture of overseas stars and homegrown talent set to fill the berths.

England pairs Javier and Joaquin Bello and Freddie Bialokoz and Issa Batrane have already been confirmed as playing the tournament
