National Squad Activities
As the Indoor season comes to a close attention now turns to the Volleyball England Junior National Beach Programme for the coming summer.
In December 2012, UK Sport took the decision fund a Women’s Beach pair in their preparations for 2016 Olympic Qualification. In order to sustain this success in the longer term, and provide a clear pathway for those who show the potential to succeed at the highest level in Beach Volleyball, Volleyball England will outline a number of key events and procedures in the selection of a National Junior Beach Programme. This programme will work alongside the indoor programme and with careful scheduling will allow the holistic development of athletes within the sport of Volleyball.
As this is the first time that a formal beach volleyball Junior National Programme has been implemented, the first stage of formation will be an Open Trials held at the National Volleyball Centre, Kettering, on the 1st and 2nd June, to allow all athletes with an interest in pursuing the beach discipline to trial. The cost of attending will be £10 for one day, with lunch being provided.
From the open trail a total of 16-20 athletes will be selected to form theJuniorNationalBeachprogramme, of which there will be in the region of 4 players per gender in both the Cadet and Junior age groups. Volleyball England will support all international events, holding camp preparation and entry fees to Domestic competition (VEBT/JVEBT/Sandbanks). The athlete will be responsible for funding domestic travel and accommodation.
Selected athletes will need to make a commitment to the JVEBT/VEBT events dated:
- VEBT/JVEBT Skegness 14th-16th June 2013
- VEBT Weston-Super-Mare/Sandbanks 5-7th July 2013

- VEBT/JVEBT Weymouth 2nd – 4th August 2013
- VEBT/JVEBT MargateVEBT Finals 22nd – 24th August 2013
