Applications now being taken for new NVL teams

Teams looking to enter the National Volleyball League (NVL) for the 2017/18 season are now invited to submit their applications.
With 146 current teams (men’s and women’s), representing 85 clubs and spread across 16 divisions, the NVL represents the pinnacle of competitive volleyballing action in England and Wales.
Just ten years ago, the NVL featured 105 teams. The 40% growth in team numbers since then stands as testament to the burgeoning popularity of Volleyball England’s flagship league competition.
The 2016/17 season saw 19 new teams become part of the NVL. Of those, 16 came from clubs who were entering the NVL for the first time. These included Cardiff Falcons in the west, Ipswich in the east and Doncaster Miners in the north.
Clubs that are hoping to enter a team need to fill in the official application form and submit this alongside a range of supporting materials. These include copies of the club constitution and accounts as well as a letter of support from their regional association. The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 21.
When making their submission, clubs must also pay a goodwill deposit of £100 – which will be returned should their application be unsuccessful.
All new teams joining the NVL for the 2017-18 season must be aware that 'The Regional or Area Association must provide evidence of referee development such that two qualified referees from there not previously officiating in the National League are prepared to do so.'
Successful applicants will automatically join the NVL at Division 3 level. A further competition entry fee of £230 will be payable at this point.
