Positive feedback from review into volleyball’s safeguarding practices

Volleyball England has received the ‘met’ rating following its annual safeguarding review from the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) - the highest possible standard.

The CPSU, a specialist NSPCC unit, praised our approach to gathering feedback and implementing change and recommended this good practice is shared with other sports.

They also highlighted our Children and Young People policy review and case management via the Globocol safeguarding platform as positives from 2022.

Rob Payne, Interim Deputy CEO, is Volleyball England’s Lead Safeguarding Officer. He works alongside Laura Woodruff, Deputy Safeguarding Officer; Freda Bussey, our Board of Directors Safeguarding Champion; Event Safeguarding Leads; and Club Welfare Officers to ensure children are protected from harm.

Rob said: “We are pleased to gain this rating from CPSU, which re-affirms that our safeguarding practices continue to be recognised at the highest level. This is a reflection of the whole volleyball community who all have a part to play in ensuring that young people are provided with a fun and safe environment."
