Masters Volleyball Tournament Update
26th June 2012
The Masters Volleyball Tournament to be held in Sheffield at the EIS arena on the 15th /16th of September 2012 is starting to take shape with entrys coming in from all over the country. The tournament, aimed primarily at over 40’s of all standards, has the unique system where players enter as individuals, so there is no need to find a team of six over 40’s!
Tournament organisers have secured the inclusion of eleven of the country’s top volleyball players of the last 30 years to act as team captains and coaches for the weekend and each entrant will be drawn at random to form a team for those captains. A further ladies captain is waiting in the wings and it is hoped it will be one the country’s most popular players of the 80’s. It’s all held in one place, one hotel - with plenty of ice on standby. Food and functions will all be included.
The captains for the weekend consist of:
Men's - Phil Newton, Jefferson Williams, Richard Dobell, Andy Craig, Dave Speers, Clayton Lucas, Jurek Jankowski, Tom Young
Women's - Mo Glover, Donna Sedgwick and Carol Gordon
With international caps, Olympians and national coaches in abundance the quality of the captains will undoubtedly ensure that the playing side of things will be as competitive as ever with every one of them trying to seek bragging rights over each otherThe closing date for entries is the 30th July.
